Vol. 20 No. 19

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - MAYO GRAZING LANDS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state what is being done with the grazing lands on the Coyne Estate, at Aughleam. Belmullet. recently in the occupation of Rufus Carson, and whether the Land Commission will, when dividing said lands. take into account genuine claims by the representatives of evicted tenants on that estate.

Mr. Rufus Carson has agreed to give grazing lettings of all his holdings on the Walsh, Coyne, Shaw and Bingham Estate to the Land Commission pending the vesting of these estates, which are all 1923 Land Act cases, in the Land Commission. At the present moment practically all these lands are being used by the Land Commission on these agreements and sublet by them to the surrounding tenants either by way of conacre or taking in grazing stock. Schemes of division have been lodged and will be put into operation as soon as all arrangements with Mr. Carson have been completed. The applications of all persons, including evicted tenants or the representatives of evicted tenants, are considered by the Commissioners in the allotment of land acquired by them.
