Vol. 20 No. 20

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CLAIM (CO. KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the reasons for refusal to pay Unemployment Insurance Benefit to Robert Plummer, Mooretown, Donedea, Co. Kildare, Serial No. 3641, Newbridge Branch Office, who lodged a claim on the 7th April, 1927.

Robert Plummer, Mooretown, Donedea, made a claim for unemployment insurance benefit on the 7th April, 1927. The claim was referred to the Court of Referees by the Insurance Officer, and was duly considered by the Court in the presence of the claimant. The Court recommended that the claim be disallowed, on the ground that the applicant was not unable to obtain suitable employment. With this recommendation the Insurance Officer agreed, and accordingly disallowed the claim under Section 7 (1) (iii) of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920. Mr. Plummer was notified of the Court's decision on the 29th July, 1927.

Is the Minister aware that the employment offered to Mr. Plummer was unsuitable, and, on account of that, will the Minister ask for a reconsideration of the claim?

If in a particular case the claimant is not satisfied with what the Court of Referees and the Insurance Officer decided, there is a further appeal open to him. That appeal has not been lodged.
