Vol. 20 No. 20

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DISTRIBUTION OF MEATH ESTATES.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he will state the intentions of the Land Commission regarding the distribution of the estate of McVeigh. Roadanstown, County Meath, and whether it is the intention of the Land Commission to have the undivided portion of the said estate allotted to local applicants, and, if not, whether he will state why not.

The total area of untenanted land acquired on this estate is 727a. Or. 30p. Of this 334a. Or. 12p. has been divided amongst local applicants, and residue 381a. Or. 18p. is being utilised to provide suitable exchanges for migrants from congested areas whose lands are urgently needed for the relief of congestion.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say if all the lands referred to in the question have been allotted or if a large proportion is lying derelict?

I understand all the lands have been allotted.

Since when?

That is my information.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether all the lands on the estate of Aylmer, County Kildare, have yet been allotted, and whether the application of Mr. R.A.J. Manning, County Meath, representative of a tenant evicted from said estate, for a holding thereon has received any consideration by the Land Commission and with what result.

An application was received in December, 1924, on behalf of Mr. R.A. Manning for reinstatement on a holding in the townland of Curraghbrack, on the estate of Miss Aylmer at Donadea, formerly occupied by his father. These lands have not been acquired by the Land Commission, but if and when they are acquired Manning's application will be considered.

May I ask the Parliamentary Secretary if there is a possibility of the Land Commission acquiring the lands?

Negotiations are proceeding for the acquisition of the lands.
