Vol. 21 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - HOSPITAL ACCOMMODATION AT KINSALE.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether his Department has received representations urging the provision of adequate hospital accommodation in Kinsale, and whether, in view of the long distance over which patients have now to be conveyed and the consequent inconvenience thereto, he will sanction the reconstruction of the old workhouse into a suitable cottage hospital.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Arising out of the Report of the Poor Law Commission, which has been presented recently, the hospital requirements of Kinsale and elsewhere will be fully considered. The Deputy will have noted, however, that the specific recommendations of the Commission do not include a special hospital for Kinsale.
