Vol. 21 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NIXON ESTATE TURBARY RENTS (TIRCONAILL).

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether inquiry has been made into the demands recently put forward on behalf of the owner of the Nixon Estate, near Falcarragh, County Donegal, for arrears of turbary rents; whether he is aware that the tenants' right to turbary and mountain grazing has been the subject of continual disputes for at least half a century, and if he will state what stage has been reached in the application of the Land Purchase Acts to this estate.

The Schedules of Particulars to enable the Land Commission to deal with the Nixon Estate under the purchase provisions of the Land Act, 1923, have not yet been lodged. The turbary question will be considered when the Commissioners are dealing with the estate.

Is the Minister aware that the estate has been under consideration, from my own knowledge, since the year 1903, and will he see his way to expedite the matter?
