CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT IN CORK.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if, in view of the acute unemployment and distress existing in Cork City, he is prepared, in the allocation of the relief grant of £150,000, to consider schemes of work of permanent value submitted by the Cork City Commissioners, with a view to providing immediate employment for a number of persons at present out of work.

I am prepared to consider such schemes and make suitable recommendations to the Minister for Finance.
