Vol. 21 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GRANT FOR HOUSE-BUILDING ON BURY ESTATE, KILDARE.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he will state the reasons for the delay in granting the sum of £100 for the erection of a house for Mr. Martin Devine, a tenant on the Bury Estate, Downings, Prosperous, County Kildare; if he is aware that Mr. Devine was promised this grant as far back as the 7th April, 1925, and whether, as he is suffering great inconvenience by the unreasonably long delay, he will expedite payment to Mr. Devine.

The Land Commission sanctioned, in April, 1927, an advance of £100 to Martin Devine, to whom a parcel of land on the Bury Estate was allotted, to enable a disused house to be repaired and converted into a dwelling-house. Representations were made to the Commissioners that the amount was insufficient, and on reconsideration they sanctioned, in June, 1927, a grant of £150. These sums will be paid out as the work proceeds.
