Vol. 21 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TRAINING COLLEGES VACANCIES.

asked the Minister for Education how many vacancies for boys in Drumcondra and De La Salle Training Colleges are to be competed for at the Easter Examination, 1928; whether any of these are reserved for monitors, pupil teachers, etc., and, if so, how many; also the number of probable vacancies for boys not at present serving the Department of Education in any capacity.

The total number of vacancies in St. Patrick's and De La Salle Training Colleges for teachers next year will be approximately 157.

It is estimated that it will be necessary to reserve about fifty places for Pupil Teachers (New Class), Untrained Assistants, University Graduates and third year training students.

The number of vacancies for open competition for boys at the Easter Examination of 1928 will be about 107.

Monitors, of whom now only a few remain, have to compete at the ordinary examination for entrance to training, but are allowed the advantage of service marks.
