Vol. 21 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REFUSAL OF OLD AGE PENSION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he will state the reasons for refusing an old age pension to Robert Ormonde, Carnew, County Wicklow (No. in Pensions Officers' Register 1398), and further, if he is aware that the claimant forwarded three declarations from persons who declared him to be over 70 years of age, and what further evidence is required to establish his claim.

An appeal was decided in this case on the 15th September, 1927. It was determined that the claimant was not entitled to any pension, as it was not clear on the evidence submitted that he had attained the statutory age. When claiming a blind pension in February, 1922, he gave his age as 63 years.

Declarations were received from three neighbours which were not, however, considered sufficiently conclusive to justify the allowance of a pension. If the claimant obtains more definite evidence of age, it is open to him to make a fresh claim in the usual way.
