asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he will state the reason why the old age pension of Martin Carty, Rathallen, Boyle, was reduced to five shillings per week; whether he is aware that the pension was his only means of support, and whether he will reconsider this case.
WRITTEN ANSWERS. - REDUCTION OF OLD AGE PENSION.
Mr. Carty was in receipt of an old age pension of 8/- a week, which was reduced on review under the Old Age Pensions Act, 1924, to 5/- a week as from 5th September, 1924. The appeal was decided on 31st October, 1924, and the case has not since come up for adjudication. Decisions given in old age pension cases cannot be reconsidered, but if the pensioner considers he is now entitled to an increase in his pension it is open to him to raise a question with the local pension officer.
