Vol. 22 No. 1

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - BALLYKINAVA FARM (CLARE-MORRIS).

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will now state what steps are being taken to acquire the grazing ranch known as Ballykinava Farm, near Claremorris, for the relief of the acute congestion existing in the adjacent townlands of Meelickmore, Meelickbeg, Toolagh and Ballykinava, and if he will state what steps, if any, were taken by the Irish Land Commission to give Mr. Martin Curran an exchange for that farm since it was gazetted on July 19th, 1927.

Proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of the lands of Ballykinava, containing 452a. 3r. 10p. or thereabouts, in the occupation of Martin Curran. These lands are subject to the payment of a Land Purchase annuity and they have been published in a provisional list of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, will become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.

The owner has objected to the acquisition of these lands by the Land Commission and has filed certain proposals with his objection which the Land Commission have under consideration.
