Vol. 22 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - POLITICAL MEETING IN NATIONAL SCHOOLS.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that a Cumann na nGaedheal meeting was advertised in the "Longford Leader" and by written posters at the chapel gates, Ballinalee, to be held in Ballinalee National School on Sunday, 11th March, 1928; and that a meeting was held there, and whether, seeing that Cumann na nGaedheal meetings are held in this school, he will order that Ballinalee National School be made available for the holding of Fianna Fáil meetings also.

I have communicated with the manager of the school, who informs me that, so far as he is aware, no such meeting was held in the school referred to, and he does not see how such meeting could have been held without his knowledge and consent.

As stated in an answer to a previous question by the Deputy, it is not proposed to modify the regulation which prohibits the holding of political meetings in National Schools.

Does the Minister consider the Farmers' Union Party a political party in that sense?
