asked the President whether the Government would be prepared to give favourable consideration to the setting up of a Historical Manuscripts Commission or other suitable machinery for recording and making available to historical students family papers and other documents of public interest possessed by private persons in Saorstát.

It is the intention to set up an Irish Manuscripts Commission for the publication of Irish manuscripts and other documents of literary and historical interest. The terms of reference and personnel of the Commission are at present under consideration.
