Vol. 22 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ELECTRICIANS IN FREE STATE.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) what steps have been taken to prepare the various grades of electricians in anticipation of the demand arising out of the operation of the Shannon Scheme; (b) the number of such electricians at present in training; and (c) the areas in the Saorstát in which they are being trained.

The provision of electricians in various grades to meet requirements arising out of the operation of the Shannon Scheme is a matter primarily for the consideration by the Electricity Supply Board.

For the purpose of obtaining full information as to the number and distribution of electricians the Board caused a special census to be taken. The returns are at present being examined, and it has not yet been decided what (if any) special courses of training it may be necessary to institute.
