Vol. 23 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - NAME OF MAYO TOWN.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he has received a resolution from the Mayo County Council, passed at their meeting on the 24th March, 1928, requesting the Minister to change the name (now Bellaghy) of Charlestown, to "Baile Chathail"; whether he agrees to the terms of the resolution; and, if so, when it will take effect.

I received on the 26th April a copy of a resolution passed by the Mayo County Council at their meeting on 24th March requesting that the name of Charlestown be changed on the Post Office official stamps from "Beal Lathaighe" to "Baile Chathail." I have no objection to the proposed alteration and will arrange for the change to be carried out as soon as possible.
