Vol. 23 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LANDING SLIP (BERE ISLAND).

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he has received an application for the erection of a landing slip at Sheep's Cove, Bere Island, Bantry Bay; and whether he will have the proposal examined with a view to constructing the necessary accommodation for the local people.

I do not appear to have received an application for the erection of a pier or landing slip at Sheep's Cove, Bere Island. A request was, however, made for the construction of a landing slip at Cloonaghlin, Bere Island, but I was unable to recommend that the State should bear the cost of that project, which was estimated at £700, as, owing to the exposed position the proposed work would be liable to destruction, and, further, the extent of the fishing there would not justify the expenditure involved.
