Vol. 23 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - INCOME TAX DEFAULTERS.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state, without mentioning names, (a) the individual amounts due by the twenty largest defaulters in respect of income tax due for the year 1927-1928; the corresponding figures for 1926-1927, and 1925-1926, respectively; what portion of the arrears due by the twenty largest defaulters in respect of the tax for 1925-26, and 1926-27, respectively, is still outstanding; what portion of these is recoverable; and for what reason they have not been collected.

This information could not be obtained without reference to the Inspectors of Taxes, and its extraction and aggregation would involve considerable time and expenditure which would not, it is considered, be justifiable at present.
