Vol. 24 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PROTECTION OF WILD BIRDS.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he proposes to introduce proposals for legislation this session for the protection of wild birds; and whether any proposals for that purpose are at present under consideration.

I have not at present under consideration any proposals for legislation for the further protection of wild birds.

Is the Minister aware that some time ago it was stated that the matter would get consideration? I think that was twelve months ago when that was stated.

Mr. BYRNE

It was stated from the Government Benches.

The Deputy must know that the state of business in the House is now, let me say, in a rather congested state, to say the least of it. This is not by any means an urgent or pressing question. If it is any help to the Deputy, I want to say that I have considerable sympathy with the object he mentions.

Would the Minister take steps to introduce legislation for the special protection of the Dublin gulls?

And what about the country gulls?
