CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LEWIS ESTATE (GALWAY).

asked the Minister for Fisheries, in reference to the Lewis Estate at Woodford, County Galway, whether it has been decided to give Mr. Lewis, owner, an exchange to the Thompson Estate; and what the Land Commission propose to do with (a) the untenanted land on the Lewis Estate, and (b) the house and demesne.

The Land Commission have come to an arrangement with Mr. J.A. Lewis, under which he has agreed to sell all his untenanted lands, including the demesne and mansion house, to the Land Commission, and the Land Commission have agreed to allot him certain lands and the residence on the Thompson Estate. All the lands to be acquired on the Lewis Estate will be allotted amongst the classes of persons set out in Section 31 of the Land Act, 1923.
