Vol. 24 No. 4

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SAVINGS CERTIFICATES FOR DAIL BONDS.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state the cause of the delay in issuing Saving Certificates to James Fenlon in exchange for Dáil Bonds, No. 13149, registered in the name of Mrs. J. Fenlon (deceased), and wife of above-named James Fenlon, and whether the Minister can state when these certificates will be issued.

No application has been received in my Department in respect of an amount subscribed to the Dáil Loan by Mrs. James Fenlon, late of Edgeworthstown, County Longford, deceased.

An application for the refund of an amount of £3, stated to have been subscribed by him, was received from a Mr. James P. Fenlon, now of Carlow and formerly of Edgeworthstown, but the particulars furnished in the application do not correspond with the information contained in the records of my Department. Mr. Fenlon has not furnished any receipt for the amount which he claims to have subscribed, and although an effort has been made to verify his claim, no evidence which would enable me to authorise repayment has yet been furnished.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that Peter Mullally, Main Street, Edgeworthstown, applied on the 20th June, 1927, for Savings Certificates in exchange for Dáil Bonds, No. 13117; that he received an acknowledgment of that application 11th July, 1927; that he has since made several applications which have been acknowledged, but has not yet received the certificates, and whether the Minister can state when those Savings Certificates will be issued.

Authority to issue a Savings Certificate to Mr. Peter F. Mullally, of Edgeworthstown, in respect of his subscription of £5 to the Dáil Eireann Loan will be given to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs during the course of this week.
