Vol. 24 No. 8

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DONEGAL PIER IMPROVEMENTS.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the Donegal County Council, at the last meeting, definitely pledged itself to contribute one-third of the estimated cost of improvements at Rathmullen Pier; and whether, having regard to this fact, he is now prepared to find the balance required in order that the works may be carried out as soon as possible.

I understand that the County Council is willing to contribute one-third of the cost, not exceeding £3,333, of improvements proposed at Rathmullen Pier, but the arrangements as hitherto discussed contemplated that the contribution of the Council should be one-half. The estimate of cost of the work at present available is approximate only. The total expenditure and engineering merits of the scheme generally are at present under examination, and I hope to be in a position shortly to make a definite statement on the matter.
