Vol. 25 No. 6

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MALLOW-KILLARNEY ROAD.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware (a) that a Commission appointed in 1914 by the British Government recommended that the Mallow-Killarney Road should be the first road steam-rolled in Munster; (b) that 16 miles of this road have not yet been steam-rolled; (c) that the Kerry County Council, at their Roads Board meeting in last November, voted a sum of £2,500 to be expended on the Kerry section of this road, provided that the Government gave a grant for the completion of the work; and (d) whether he will now state what steps he proposes to take in the matter.

I have no information as regards the first part of the question. The answers to (b) and (c) are in the affirmative. The county councils were informed in April last that it was not practicable to make a grant from the Road Fund.
