Vol. 25 No. 7

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - CENSORSHIP OF PUBLICATIONS BILL, 1928—FIRST STAGE.

I ask leave to introduce a Bill entitled "An Act to make provision for the prohibition of the sale and distribution of unwholesome literature, and for that purpose to provide for the establishment of a censorship of books and periodical publications, and to restrict the publication of reports of certain classes of judicial proceedings and for other purposes incidental to the matters aforesaid."

I would like to point out that there are still one or two small matters remaining to be settled in this Bill, and that I may not be able to circulate it to Deputies for a week or ten days. I think that will give adequate time for the consideration by the House of this rather difficult and complicated measure before October 10.

Leave granted.
Bill read a first time.
Second Stage ordered for 10th October.
