Vol. 25 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM (CO. KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state the reasons why an old age pension of 10/- per week, from the date of application, was not paid to P. Murphy, Levitstown, Mageney, Athy, Co. Kildare, aged 72 years, of no means, who sent in his birth certificate with his claim early in November, 1927; and whether he will expedite payment.

Patrick Murphy, Levitstown, Athy, Co. Kildare, made a claim to an old age pension on 1st November, 1927. On 6th November, 1927, he became an inmate of the county home, Athy. His claim to old age pension was determined by the local pension committee on 22nd May, 1928, when a pension at the rate of 10/- a week was awarded to him to commence on 25th May, 1928, i.e., the date on which he was to leave the county home. Mr. Murphy was duly discharged from the home on 25th May, 1928, and an old age pension order book with effect as from that date was delivered to him in accordance with the decision of the Committee. I am having further inquiries made as to the nature of the relief received by this person in the county home during the period from his admission to his discharge.
