Vol. 26 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RECOMMENDATIONS OF TOWN TENANTS' COMMISSION.

asked the President whether he can state if the recommendations of the Town Tenants' Commission have received consideration; whether proposals for legislation to give effect to their recommendations will be introduced before the Christmas Recess, and if not, whether he can state when such proposals for legislation will be introduced.

A decision has not yet been taken as to the precise nature of the legislation to be presented in pursuance of the report of the Town Tenants' Commission, and I am not yet in a position to forecast the date on which proposals for such legislation will be ready for introduction.

Mr. BYRNE

Will the President say if such legislation will be retrospective, as very great pressure is being applied by house-lords when making bargains now with tenants to put on increased rents before legislation has been introduced?

I would prefer if the Deputy would not press me for an answer to that question at the moment.
