Vol. 26 No. 1

CONSTITUTION (AMENDMENT No. 8) BILL, 1928—COMMITTEE STAGE.

The Dáil went into Committee.

When this Bill was being considered on the Second Reading Stage, I stated at considerable length my views concerning the proposals contained in it. I would like to suggest that Deputies who may have forgotten the tenor of my remarks on that occasion would procure a copy of the Official Report and study the speeches before voting on this Bill.

Views unaltered?

Our views are unaltered.

Sections 1 and 2 and the Title agreed to.
The Dáil went out of Committee.
Bill reported without amendment.

I should like the Report Stage to be taken to-morrow.

Does the President really mean that?

As far as I know it is not a contentious measure. The other Bill may be contentious; it may evoke a little contention and I am allowing a certain latitude.

Report Stage fixed for Thursday, 11th October.
