Vol. 26 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RELIEF WORK THROUGH LOCAL AUTHORITIES.

asked the Minister for Finance whether any special grants for allotment to the local authorities for relief work during the coming winter months are under consideration; and whether he is aware that many hundreds have been disappointed in their efforts to secure relief work during the past twelve months.

A sum of £32,000 is already provided in the current year's Estimates for the completion of works unfinished on the 31st March last. It is not proposed to make any additional provision for relief schemes this year as any such provision would entail the presentation at the same time of proposals to the Dáil for the raising of an equal sum by the imposition of fresh taxation.
