CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NATIONAL CITY BANK.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the total number of transactions entered into and completed by the Land Commission with the National City Bank, Limited (formerly the National Land Bank, Limited), under Sections 48 to 53, inclusive, of the Land Act, 1923; the total area of the lands therein involved, the total price fixed therefor, the amount thereof contributed by the State; and the total value of the 4½ per cent. land bonds issued in respect of the several transactions.

Under the provisions of Part III. (Sections 48 to 56) of the Land Act, 1923, particulars of lands purchased by 48 societies or bodies of trustees by means of advances from the National Land Bank in respect of a total area of 16,976 acres were furnished to the Land Commission by the Bank. Notices having been duly gazetted, the lands were vested in the Land Commission on appointed days fixed in respect thereof, the purchase money amounting to £390,026 (including £35,457, the State contribution of one-eleventh).
