WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF OFFALY ESTATES.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he can state what progress has been made by the Land Commission in acquiring the estate of Flynn (U.2867), containing 265 acres 2 roods 24 perches, situate at Tully, Tubber, Offaly, for the relief of congestion in the neighbourhood.

The Land Commission offer for the purchase of the lands under Section 36 of the Land Act, 1923, has been refused. The Commissioners propose to take steps to acquire the lands under the provisions of Section 24 of the Act.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he can state what steps have been taken by the Commission to acquire the estates of (a) Thomas Moylette or B. Bleahen (U.3970), situate at Moorock, Ballycumber, Offaly; (b) representatives of R. Eyre, Tinramuck, Offaly, for the relief of congestion in the neighbourhood.

The lands of Moorock, containing some 375 acres, held by Mrs. B. Bleahan, have been inspected, and the question of their acquisition by the Land Commission is at present under consideration.

The lands of Cransallagh and Moorock, comprising some 238 acres, held by Reps. Major Eyre, were purchased under the Land Purchase Acts, and the Commissioners do not propose to acquire them.
