asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether an application for an old age pension from Mrs. Mary Egerton (formerly Hollingsworth), who was born at Poulaphouca, Co. Wicklow, on April 6th, 1858, has been received by the Pensions Officer in Sligo, and whether, in view of the fact that Mrs. Egerton has a certificate showing that she was baptised at Aughrim, Co. Wicklow, on April 18th, 1858, he will investigate the cause of delay and take steps to expedite the granting of this pension.
WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SLIGO OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM.
An appeal was received on the 5th July, 1928, in this case against the decision of the Collooney Pension Sub-Committee, who proposed to allow a pension of 6/- a week. The claimant's age was not in doubt, as it was proved that she was born on 6th April, 1858. It was, however, admitted by her husband that he received 32/- a week wages and a free house as a gardener. The claimant's means (a moiety of the means of the couple as calculated under the Old Age Pensions Acts) were, therefore, in excess of the statutory limit(£39 5s. 0d. a year), and it was determined on 30th August, 1928, that she was not entitled to any pension.
