Vol. 27 No. 4

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF A GALWAY FARM.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state what steps, if any, have been taken to acquire (for distribution amongst the congested tenants in the area) the lands known as Fiddane Farm, Kilkerrin, Co. Galway.

The lands of Fiddane and Highstreet, comprising 445 acres or thereabouts, the property of Reps. of Martin Halvey, deceased, have been inspected and valued, and the Land Commissioners have issued a proposal for their purchase, under the provisions of Section 36 of the Land Act, 1923. The proposal has not, however, been accepted, and the Land Commission is now considering the question of taking proceedings to compulsorily acquire the lands under Section 24 of the Act.
