Vol. 28 No. 3

Workmen's Compensation (Increase of Compensation) Bill, 1929—First Stage.

I beg leave to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1906, and the Acts amending that Act in respect of the amounts of compensation payable thereunder.

Leave granted.

Perhaps the Second Stage of this Bill could be taken next Wednesday.

I wonder would the Deputy postpone the Second Reading a little further? I assume from the title of this Bill that this question in respect of compensation will not be a simple matter. We have to consider the maximum figure and the matter of dependents' allowances. These are intricate things and I would like to see the Bill compared with the Report of the Commission.

What date does the Minister suggest?

This day week.

Second Stage fixed for Friday, 1st March.
