Vol. 28 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Attestation of Gárda.

asked the Minister for Justice whether transferred officers of the Dublin Metropolitan Police who joined prior to 1921, and who on joining took the oath then prescribed, were required to take the oath prescribed in the Gárda Siochána Act, 1924; and, if not, whether he will state their present position, and whether under such circumstances they are recognised as regular members of the Gárda Siochána.

Members of the Dublin Metropolitan Police who became members of the Gárda Siochana by virtue of the provisions of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925, were not required to reattest on amalgamation. I would refer the Deputy to the provisions of the Act.
