Vol. 28 No. 4

Written Answers. - Kerry Old Age Pension Claims.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the reasons why Mr. Michael Flahive, Beencuneen, Clashmelchon, Causeway, Kerry, has been refused the old age pension, and whether he is aware that the applicant is practically destitute.

An appeal was decided in this case on the 26th March, 1926, when it was determined that the claimant was not entitled to any pension. It was not clear that he fulfilled the statutory qualification as to residence laid down in Section 3 (2) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1911, as amended by Section 2 (3) of the Act of 1919. The case has not since come in for adjudication.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why Mr. Michael Connor, Drinagh, Ballyheigue, Co. Kerry, an old age pensioner, has been deprived of three months' pension by the Old Age Pensions Authority, Tralee district, and why he is in receipt of 9/- per week only, instead of 10/-, and whether he is aware that this pensioner is extremely poor.

So far as can be ascertained from the particulars furnished, this case has not come up on appeal. I have therefore no information concerning it.
