Vol. 28 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Statute-Barred Accounts.

Mr. Boland (for Mr. Holt)

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that under Section 4 of the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1902, local authorities are debarred from paying debts, claims or demands which have not been paid within two years from the date at which they were incurred or became due, and whether, having regard to the conditions existing in the country during the period from 1919, he will now consider the advisability of introducing proposals for legislation dealing with the payment of statute-barred accounts.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and to the second part in the negative.
