Vol. 30 No. 11

In Committee on Finance. - Intoxicating Liquor (Amendment) Bill, 1929—Committee Stage.

In respect of Sunday the 23rd day of June, 1929 and so far as relates to the Dublin Metropolitan area only, paragraph (c) of sub-section (1) of Section 2 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1927 (No. 15 of 1927) shall be construed and have effect as if for the word "two" now contained therein there were substituted the word "four" and as if for the word "five" now contained therein there were substituted the word "seven."

The Dublin Metropolitan area does not mean Dublin city proper, but the whole area. What does it cover?

I should say it includes any area in respect of which the Dublin Metropolitan Guards patrol.

That would include Blackrock.

It goes out as far as Dalkey, but it does not go as far as Howth.

The question is whether this means the larger area. We would like to find out that definitely.

We could adjourn the Report Stage until nine o'clock, when I could find it out.

We have taken it that it means the larger area.

Section 1 put and agreed to.
Section 2 and the Title put and agreed to.
The Dáil went out of Committee.
Bill reported without amendment.
Report stage to be taken at nine p.m.
