Vol. 30 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revision of Constituencies.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it is intended to introduce proposals for legislation to revise constituencies, arising out of the change of population, as shown by the Census of 1926, in accordance with the terms of Article 26 of the Constitution; and, if so, when.

It is my intention that any necessary proposals in this matter shall be placed before the Oireachtas next autumn.

Will the Minister consider the advisability of having the proposals considered by a Committee of the House before being submitted to the Dáil?

I have already given consideration to that, and I do not think there is anything in the matter that should dictate the setting up of a Special Committee.
