Vol. 31 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Uneconomic Landholders in Co. Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the number of applications for portions of land received from uneconomic landholders in the parish of Kilcommon, Hollymount district, Co. Mayo.

Applications received from smallholders for parcels of untenanted land are not recorded by parishes in the Land Commission, and it is, therefore, not possible to give the information asked for.

The cases of all uneconomic holders in the neighbourhood of lands being divided are considered by the Land Commission, whether they have applied or not.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will give the names of estates in the Kilcommon, Hollymount district, Co. Mayo, where land is available for division amongst uneconomic landholders; whether he will give also the names of the grazing ranches in the district, and if he will state when the Land Commission intend taking over the land available for the relief of the acute congestion existing in the district.

The Land Commission have not a list of estates in Kilcommon, Hollymount district, where land is available for division amongst uneconomic landholders. If the Deputy will supply any information with respect to lands which he considers should be acquired for the relief of congestion, and which have not already been acquired by the Land Commission or the (late) Congested Districts Board, the Land Commission will have inquiries made as regards them in due course.
