Vol. 31 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income Tax Demand (Castletownbere).

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the Revenue Commissioners have demanded income tax on house property in Castletownbere from Mrs. Lyne and D. Downing, Castletownbere, in respect of the years 1915 to 1921, although the property was not purchased till 1920, since which date all liability has been discharged, and, if he will state the grounds on which such claims can be sustained, and whether it is intended to proceed with such claims by distraint or otherwise.

On the general question, I would refer the Deputy to the answer given to Deputy Travers Wolfe in reply to question No. 5 on to-day's Order Paper. The papers relating to the particular cases mentioned by the Deputy have been recalled from the local inspector, and the cases are being looked into.
