Vol. 32 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widows and Orphans' Pensions.

asked the President whether the Executive Council has yet given to the question of provision for widows and orphans the special consideration requested by resolution of the Dáil in November last; and, if so, when he proposes to communicate to the Dáil the results of that consideration.

Collection of data necessary for the proper consideration of any scheme for the further provision for widows and orphans is still proceeding. A considerable amount of information has been collected, but some time must elapse before it will be possible to come to any final decision on the matter.

Mr. Murphy

Can the President give any indication when a decision on the matter will be reached?

No, because it depends to a considerable extent upon information which is in the course of preparation and which is being expedited as much as possible.

Could the President state if the Executive Council has considered the recommendations of the Poor Law Commission in this respect?

The Deputy will have to put down a question as to that.
