Public Business. - Agricultural Produce (Fresh Meat) Bill, 1929—Money Resolution.

The Dáil went into Committee on Finance.

I move:

"Go bhfuil sé oiriúnach a údarú go n-íocfar amach as airgead a sholáthróidh an tOireachtas aon chostaisí fé n-a raghfar chun aon Acht do chur in éifeacht a rithfar sa tSiosón so chun socrú do dhéanamh chun easportáil feola úire agus scartach do rialáil d'fhonn standard generálta na rudaí sin d'fheabhsú agus, chuige sin, socrú do dhéanamh chun áitreabhacha do chlárú agus do rialú a húsáidtear chun ainmhithe do mharbha no chun feoil úr agus scartaigh a bheidh le heasportáil d'ullamhú agus do phacáil ionta, agus chun daoine do cheadúnú a bhíonn i mbun feoil úr agus scartaigh d'easportáil, agus chun scrúdú do dhéanamh agus deimhnithe do thabhairt ar fheoil úir agus ar scartaigh a bheidh le heasportáil, chun socrú do dhéanamh chun coiníní marbha agus éanlaithe marbha a bheidh le heasportáil do phacáil sa cheart agus i gcóir nithe eile a bhainneann leis na nithe roimhráite.

That it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys to be provided by the Oireachtas of any expenses incurred in carrying into effect any Act of the present Session to make provision for the regulation of the export of fresh meat and offals with a view to improving the general standard thereof, and for that purpose to make provision for the registration and control of premises used for the slaughter of animals or for the preparation and packing of fresh meat and offals intended for export, the licensing of persons engaged in exporting fresh meat and offals and the examination and certification of fresh meat and offals intended for export, to make provision for the proper packing of dead rabbits and dead poultry intended for export, and for other matters incidental to the matters aforesaid."

It is estimated that the annual expenditure on the operations of the Bill will be about £18,900 and that the revenue by way of registration, expenses and inspection fees will be about £16,100. That means that the cost to the Exchequer, when this Bill is in operation, will be about £2,800 per annum.
