Vol. 32 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - British Empire Goods Preference.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what was the amount of revenue sacrificed in the last financial year by the granting of preferences to British Empire goods; and whether he can state the corresponding sacrifices on the part of Great Britain and the other Dominions in respect of goods imported from the Saorstát.

The answer to the first part of the question is that had not preferential rates of duty operated, and had consumption been unaltered, an additional sum of £220,000 would have accrued to the Exchequer.

No information is available as regards the second part of the question.
