Vol. 33 No. 10

Written Answers. - Kilkelly (Mayo) Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that Mary McDonnell, of Glantavrane, Kilkelly, was awarded a pension of 8s. a week by the Kilkelly (County Mayo) Sub-Committee on 11th November, 1929; and if he is also aware that three old age pensioners, Michael Duffy and Martin Casey, both of Glantavrane, and Honor Horan, of Barcul, have made affidavits certifying that the applicant was over 70 years of age, and if he will consider the case favourably and ratify the award of the Sub-Committee.

The facts are as stated. An appeal against the Sub-Committee's decision was received on the 18th November, 1929. Full consideration was given to the testimony submitted, which was not, however, considered sufficiently relevant and conclusive to warrant the allowance of a pension. The appeal was determined on the 16th January, 1930, the claim being disallowed. The case cannot now be re-opened.
