Vol. 34 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dismissal of a Customs Watcher.

asked the Minister for Finance if he received a letter addressed to him on February 25th last with reference to the dismissal of a Customs watcher named J. Collins, and if he is yet in a position to state what action, if any, he intends taking in this matter.

A reply to the letter referred to was addressed to the Deputy on the 22nd instant. There is nothing to add to the information conveyed therein.

I would like to ask the President if he would undertake to explain why a letter sent to the Department of Finance on 25th February was not acknowledged until 22nd March. Is it customary to have such delays in matters of that kind?

That is another question.

That was my principal reason for putting down the question.

The Deputy should have stated that when he put it down.

I desire to give notice that I shall raise this matter on the Motion for the Adjournment this evening.
