Vol. 34 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Congests in Co. Kildare.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether, in view of the fact that about 150 acres out of 171 acres of the lands of Castlesize, Bodenstown, Co. Kildare, have been allotted to a migrant, he will instruct the Land Commission to acquire the lands containing 142 acres in the townland of Mellicent South, electoral division of Clane, Co. Kildare, held by Mr. James Lyons, or other lands in the neighbourhood, for the relief of the congests, 49 in number, who applied for parcels of land in Castlesize in April, 1927.

The Land Commission are in negotiation with the owner in regard to the purchase of the lands of Millicent South for the relief of local congestion.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say if it is the intention of the Land Commission when they acquire the land to give it to migrants, as in the case of the Castlesize lands?
