Vol. 34 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Wexford Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries to state the reason for the delay in having the tenanted lands on the George Estate and the Portsmouth Estate, Co. Wexford, vested in the tenants.

A Provisional List in respect of the George Estate has been published and the estate has been inspected. The case is being dealt with as rapidly as possible but I am unable at present to say when the lands will be vested. A Provisional List has been published in respect of the Portsmouth Estate comprising 92 holdings all held subject to non-judicial rents. The tenants, except 2, have objected to their Standard Purchase Annuities being fixed under the Act of 1929, and these annuities will accordingly be fixed by the Land Commission after inspection of the holdings and an Inspector has been instructed to inspect them. Until the holdings have been inspected, the Purchase Annuities fixed and other matters arising on the Inspector's report disposed of the holdings cannot be vested.
