Vol. 34 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport Legislation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when he intends introducing proposals for legislation dealing with the recommendations of the Departmental Court of Inquiry into the Dublin Tramways strike in August-September last.

The legislative programme would not permit the introduction of any Bill dealing with transport in Dublin before the autumn. Legislation is, however, under consideration.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary state that the Bill in question will be introduced in the autumn?

The Bill will be introduced at the earliest possible moment. It is a measure that requires very careful consideration. All the statutes governing transport in Dublin have to be examined.

The Parliamentary Secretary is not prepared to say that the Bill will be introduced in the autumn?

I hope it will be ready in the autumn, but I am not giving any definite promise.
