Vol. 34 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Carter Estate, Co. Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission in connection with the division of land, migration and vesting of holdings on the Carter Estate, Belmullet, Co. Mayo.

The provisional list in respect of the tenanted lands which will vest in the Land Commission on the appointed day was published on 8th November, 1929. This is a particularly difficult estate, involving considerable rearrangement of holdings, and various questions which have arisen since the publication of the provisional list have been, and are at present being, dealt with. When these have been settled the estate will be inspected and, on receipt of the inspector's report, the Land Commission will proceed as expeditiously as possible to publish the final list and deal with the questions of re-arrangement, migration, the general improvement of the estate and the vesting of the holdings.
