asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the total amounts (a) received from tenants as payment in lieu of rent; (b) paid therefrom to vendors, agents, etc.; (c) deducted as income tax, and (d) deducted for cost of collection from 1st April, 1929, to 31st March, 1930, and from 1st April, 1923, to 1st April, 1930.

A sum of £854,389 was collected in respect of payment in lieu of rent for the period 1st February, 1929, to 31st January, 1930, the last date to which the accounts have been made up. The gross sum paid to vendors, agents, etc., for the same period was £727,958, from which has been deducted £127,022 in respect of income tax, and £4,261 costs of collection. The corresponding figures for all gales to the 31st January, 1930, are £5,751,612, £5,913,712, £1,164,917 and £27,161.
