Vol. 35 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Slates and Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if in the Marrowbone Lane Housing Scheme, for which tenders are now invited by the Dublin City Commissioners, Irish slates are to be used; and, if not, will he see that the tenders are amended, so that Irish slates will be specified.

The possibility of the use of Irish slates has formed the subject of correspondence between the Department of Industry and Commerce and the Dublin Corporation, and I understand the City Commissioners propose on receipt of the tenders which have been invited for the Marrowbone Lane housing scheme to ask for quotations for the roofing of the houses (a) with Irish slates and (b) with Irish concrete tiles.
